Day 11-Breakfast of Legends & Winds of Change
September 29th, 2025
After a very quiet night’s rest, we set out early for a hearty breakfast at Greunke's First Street Inn & Dining in Bayfield. This historic inn and restaurant has been around for over 100 years, with more than a few famous guests passing through its doors. The food did not disappoint—an absolutely perfect breakfast to start the day.
From there, we hit the road toward Bemidji, Minnesota—the land of 1,000 lakes. The drive west stretched over four hours, but the scenery made the miles easy, with fall colors and open skies keeping us company.
We landed for the night at a beautiful state park outside of Bemidji. On the way in, though, we couldn’t help but notice the scars left by nature’s power. Trees were snapped and twisted, and later we learned that straight-line winds over 90 mph had ripped through the area back in June. The damage was widespread, though thankfully no lives were lost. Meanwhile, just across the border in North Dakota, powerful tornadoes had also left their mark.
Tomorrow we continue west, bound for Devils Lake, ND, on our way to the wild landscapes of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. 🍺
